Civic body fines ‘VIP offenders’ for failing to check mosquito breeding

Neither school principals nor public works engineers have been spared by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) in its drive to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. The civic body has fined 45 such “VIP” offenders for failing to clean their premises of potential breeding spots for mosquitoes. The list includes six principals and two banks.

“The fines can be up to Rs.7000 depending on the extent of breeding. We did this to send out the message of zero tolerance against vector-borne diseases. Citizens visit these places and breeding there can cause an epidemic,” NDMC standing committee chairman MP Bhardwaj told The Hindu .

HUDCO official to inspect GVMC works

HUDCO Chief Vigilance Officer P.R.K. Naidu will be visiting the city on March 21 to see the GVMC works that have been executed with its funding.

The GVMC has taken up four works under the JNNURM. The HUDCO has sanctioned Rs.150 crore and released Rs.70 crore so far. The funds have been used to take up STPs of 38 mld and 13 mld in One Town and Mudasarlova respectively, part of the BRTS corridor, and regularisation of storm water drain at Gangulagedda.

Major reshuffle in GHMC, Rose made central zone chief

In a major reshuffle effected on Monday, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar transferred Additional Commissioner (Planning, Projects & TT), Ronald Rose and posted him as Zonal Commissioner (Central).

In place of Mr. Rose, Additional Commissioner (Estates & Coordination) P.Venkata Rami Reddy has been posted.

Zonal Commissioner (South) N. Ravi Kiran has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner (Health & Sanitation) in place of L. Vandan Kumar, who has been made Additional Commissioner (Electrical).

D. Jayaraj Kennedy, Additional Commissioner (UCD, Advertisement & Electrical) has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner (IT & Finance) while K. Siva Parvathi, Zonal Commissioner (Central) has been posted as Additional Commissioner (UCD, Election & Census).

S. Hari Krishna, Zonal Commissioner (North) posted as Additional Commissioner (Revenue, Advertisement, Trade Licence & Estates) while P. Preethi Meena is Zonal Commissioner (North).

C.N. Raghu Prasad, Additional Commissioner (Administration) has been made Zonal Commissioner (East) and Balasubrahmanyam Reddy is Zonal Commissioner (South). C. Ramakrishna Rao, Zonal Commissioner (East) has been transferred and posted as Additional Commissioner (Administration and Legal).
