Surplus budget for Gulbarga corporation

GULBARGA: The general body of the Gulbarga City Corporation on Monday gave its unanimous approval to a Rs. 4.34-crore surplus budget for 2009-10.

The budget proposals placed by the Finance and Taxation Committee chairperson, Savitramma Kalyanrao Patil, in the general body meeting here, put the anticipated receipts at Rs. 188.77 crore and the expenditure at Rs. 184.42 crore.

Ms. Patil said that the anticipated receipts from the State Government was Rs. 37.82 crore and the balance would be mobilised locally. The anticipated revenue from property tax was Rs. 20 crore, followed by Rs. 7 crore development charges, Rs. 3 crore water charges and underground drainage connections and Rs. 2 crore from trade licences.

The budget document said that Rs. 14 crore has been earmarked for the construction of roads, pavements and footpaths and Rs. 6.05 crore for street lights in the city.
