Corporation gets mobile water leak detection van

Perfect check: Social Welfare Minister P. Geetha Jeevan flagging off leak detection vehicle in Tuticorin on Wednesday.

Tuticorin: Minister for Social Welfare P. Geetha Jeevan distributed two vehicles worth Rs. 12 lakh to Mayor R. Kasthuri Thangam and Deputy Mayor Thommai Jesuadiyan here on Wednesday.

She gave away a mobile water leak detection van to Tuticorin Corporation personnel.

The mobile van was purchased at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 lakh under part – II scheme to identify leak in drinking water pipeline in a swift manner.

The mobile van consists of a sound alert system, mobile laboratory to check the turbidity level of water, leakage detection material and equipment, generator set, leak detection tools and plant and a laptop.

Ms. Jeevan extended assistance to the tune of Rs. 12. 05 lakh to as many as 201 pregnant women under Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme.

The corporation officials including S.A. Rajagopalan, Executive Engineer, M. Rakkappan, Senior Town Planning Officer, Saravanan and K. Manikandan, Junior Engineers were present.
