Seven illegal properties demolished

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi demolished seven unauthorised constructions in Central Delhi on Tuesday as part of its ongoing drive against illegal constructions in the Capital.

According to MCD officials, the Building Department of Central Zone took action against the violators of building bye-laws and demolished parts of properties in Kalkaji Extension, Lajpat Nagar-IV, Okhla and Nehru Nagar.

Stepping up its drive against illegal structures, the MCD had sealed 28 properties and demolished eight unauthorised constructions in East Delhi on Monday.

The MCD has been conducting special drive against unauthorised constructions in Shahdara (South) Zone and had taken action against 143 properties there in the last one week.

The MCD has put a renewed focus on curbing unauthorised constructions after a multi-storeyed building with two illegal floors collapsed in Lalita Park in Laxmi Nagar on November 15 claiming 70 lives and triggering criticism against the civic body.
